Merb stays merb

Yup that all she wrote. Merb is going to stay merb. Sorry to the folks who wanted a new name. I like merb enough and it is already all over the codebase.
If you don’t think merb is a good enough name to sell your pointy haired bosses on then all you need to do is think back on the name mongrel. A lot of folk tried to get Zed to change mongrel to be something more enterprisy. Nowadays mongrel is an everyday household term. Just think, soon enough even your mom will know what merb is and she will undoubtedly think its a cute name ;)
Anyway, I’m glad people responded with support for the Merb name. I didn’t realize how much I liked the name until I started to consider alternatives. And we can always have nicknames for releases.
Also I have just finished registering #merb on irc.freenode.net . I will be hanging out in there most of the time. Come on over if you need help or want to talk merb.

Great, glad you kept the name. It has a certain charm abouts it.
> Nowadays mongrel is an everyday household term. Outside of RoR circles?
I think someone felt strongly about it though. Shortly after I left my comment on your last post, some fruit-loop left anonymous comments on my blog (which I didn't approve, so they never appeared publicly) swearing and bitching at my comment left here ;-)
don't forget to snag merb-dot-org, which appears to still be available right now.
now you need a cute furry mascot. maybe some kind of small parasite that lives on dogs, like a flea.
josh- where did you see merb dot org being available? I can't find it as being available. merb.org is some music database thingy. Any other ideas for a domain name folks? Joe- it was a joke, laugh
gomerb is available in many flawors org com and net ;)
getmerb as well ;)
Hahahahahahaha!!! (Zed's funnier :P)
Ok I got a killer domain name. I will hopefully get some time to make a wiki/docs type site for merb and put it up soon. The domain name is:
merbivore.com
;-)
I'm glad you kept it Merb. It rolls off the tongue so easily. Look forward to the merbivore.com wiki etc. Ruby is proving to be more than fertile ground for various specific use frameworks.
