Engine Yard and Devjavu.com partner up

I’ve been using http://devjavu.com for a few of my open source projects like Merb and BackgrounDrb for a while now. They have a great integrated trac/subversion hosting architecture with free svn/trac hosting for open source projects and premium plans for private repos.

I liked their service so much that I thought it would be great to have devjavu service to give to Engine Yard customers. So we gave some slices to Jeff Lindsay(owner of devjavu) and he has just finished the transition and now http://devjavu.com is hosted at Engine Yard. All of our existing and future customers will get private svn/trac through Devjavu.

Jeff has a very cool notion called webhooks where you can tie into the subverstion pre and post commit hooks and have devjavu send an HTTP get or post with various params and data to a url you give them and then you process that info however you want.

If you have an open source project you want to get a free devjavu svn and trac account for it then request an invitation here: request an invite

EngineYard.com gets some love

Posted by ezmobius Sat, 27 Jan 2007 21:16:00 GMT

We have been extremely busy working on Engine Yard. I couldn’t be happier with our progress. We are already running more then 130 slices and growing rapidly.

But I think our website didn’t do a very good job of explaining what kind of service we realy offer. Also it wasn’t clear what an EngineYard slice really gets you.

Well Damien Tanner from new-bamboo.co.uk and Lance form EY have been working very hard on revamping our site to better showcase our offerings. So here is our new updated website:

www.engineyard.com

And the what you get page is much better now.

what’s a slice really mean?
