If you're looing to hook browser js into an XMPP network and you haven't already...

Look into orbited.org and http://io.js

Orbited is a python server and client script that act together as TCP proxy for the browser.

io.js is a project to build out libraries for many network protocols in js

Good to see more info on Vertebra.

I just came across something called Func from Red Hat. http://func.et.redhat.com/

I wonder how Vertebra compares with Func, except that it's built on commonly agreed and standard XMPP.

BTW, it's great to see that EY is going strong as a FOSS company.

@Dan- each agent is an xmpp client, not a component. The erlang parts(security, data store, workflow) tie into ejabberd via mod_vertebra and use ejabberd api's to appear as just another agent to the rest of the system.

Ezra,
The stuff you are working on is truly incredible! I had a couple questions though... is each xmpp agent a client or a component? Are you using xmpp4r?

I am very excited to look through the code when this becomes open source. Keep up the good work!

I gave a talk on Vertebra today at Pivotal Labs. This time it was a bit more technical then my last talk at railsconf as the system has evolved since then. We’re working furiously on this thing and hope to have the first release very soon.

We will be opening up an early beta for a few folks so if you have some wicked cool idea you want to use Vertebra for get in touch and a few people can get added to the early access.

Video was taken today of the talk and should get posted online within a few weeks.

Slides are on slideshare here if you cannot view the embedded version below.
